Thanks. =) I thought it would make things a lot more interesting to make that Charlus James' dad instead of just a random Potter. It gives more foundation for the otherwise slightly odd situation of Sirius going to live with James' family (that is canon, right, and not just fanon I'm misremembering?). He'd be just going to his relative Dorea's house.
Also, since she wasn't burnt off the tapestry, she must have been still in the acceptable range to the Blacks. That says some pretty interesting things about the Potters' politics at the time, and makes James and Lily's marriage even more of a fairy-tale romance.
Not that most of this is likely to come up in the story. But I like having an interestingly-textured background to base character development on.
